Duregor and Creation

Grimgryns did not originally come from the planet they reside on. They came from an Eldyr God. A being as old as time. Some call him by the names, That-Who-Is-Whole, The radiant son, The Endless of the Void, and It That Betrays.

Duregor, Demon of Hypocrisy and Lies, plucked from his flesh the first kin. He molded it into a long lanky eyeless being. Sprouting four arms wide smile and long ears. Satisfied with the first he began to pluck more of himself until his skin was pockmarked with holes. Once he had enough he formed crystals called Lyfecores from the gaseous wisps around him. Made from the stars themselves and the soul of Duregor they became a lesser entity and began embedding themselves into the lanky feline-like beings. The firstborns writhed and lashed around as the lesser entities took root within their bodies. Shortly after enamel like glass formed on their abdomens and inside, a contained lesser Eldyr Entity. Duregor tasked these beings to find a planet, build, live, replicate and thrive. He gave them additional spare Entity crystals to reproduce more Grimgryns. He did not require worship nor offerings. Just a bored god playing with creation. Thus creating the beings to be known as Grimgryns.

This being sent the first Grimgryns to a supposed blank and dead planet with the knowlege and ability to create Biotech equipment to survive and procreate. This planet was harsh and barren but they proceeded to terramorph the planet to their needs but this did not go unnoticed.

Biology

The Entity Lyfecores

These cores were a living thing in of itself. Usually a gelatinous blob with several tendrils and a single eye. Its purpose? To take over a husk known as a Grimgryns.
Grimgryns are void of life without these cores. To remove one would kill it. They would dematerialize into a pile of biomatter and goo, with it the Entity in the Tank as well.
The Core and its host are Symbiotic. The Entity provides energy, life as well as certain appendages of the body such as the tongues and sight.
Since these cores are made from a Eldyr God they do have some innate magic properties. They allow the Grimgryns to emit a smoke or mist from their body that gives off a hallucinogenic effect, the party who breathes in this mist usually goes into a madness or a psychosis. Thus making them easy prey for Grimgryns.

Diet

Grimgryns can eat anything, however they prefer a more carnivorous diet. They'll usually lurk around their target prey releasing the smoke from their body to cause their target to become paranoid and irrational. Once fully incapacitated due to hysteria they'll unhinge their jaw and take big bites out of their prey.

Some however have abstained meat, atleast biologically created. They will tend to feast on labgrown meat not from a living being.

Others have and can survive on a diet on plant and non meat materials.

Cannibalism

Some have taken a liking to eating their own kind, especially the Lyfecore within their chest. Cannibalism is usually a result of the Grimgryns Entity not pairing correctly with the body. Thus causing the Grimgryn to crave the others Enity and flesh. Usually these Grimgryns are unstable , though there have been some which have become cold, calculating murderers.

Reproduction

Grimgryns do have regular mating habits much like a typical human however once the pup is born they'll embed it with a small crystal shard that is the same that adults have in their chest. The pup will grow and once it reaches a mature state the entity inside the crystal will take its place inside the now mature Grimgryns abdomen. Features like the tongue and the abdominal glass are produced as the Grimgryn grows and matures. Pups can see at birth however their brains cannot process images until 3-4 weeks. The Entity hatchling inside of the new Grimgryn however will keep record and memories of things it sees and learns.

Maloth - 25A

Their planet was originally a harsh, icy planet. It was consistenly ravaged by ice storms and winds that could reach past the highest catagory hurricane on Earth.

The first Grimgryns were half-Eldyr god. They were able to withstand the elements well enough to begin harvesting the resources on the planet. Equiped with knowlege gifted by Duregor, they were able to quickly craft the tools needed to begin terramorphing the planet, atleast their own little corner. To Terraform the full planet would take centuries, as they would need to patiently fight against the harsh conditions.

Illemouth was the first city built by Grimgryns. This medium sized city was protected by a massive shield generator. This was the main hub connected by above ground tunnels to smaller towns and settlements. They used Illemouth for the main trade center.
